Founded 1919 by Henry Arthur "Art" Young

We are, simply put, those who believe in a better day, through laughter, through satire, through a poignant pointing at the powers that be who have no reason to be allowed to remain in power.  We are students and disciples of Henry Arthur "Art" Young.  Unabashedly.  Unashamedly.  Unavoidably.

 

One might ask, why is it that we'd resurrect a magazine that hasn't been around for over ninety years?  Why start anew, yet already beholden to an ideal that began and ended, in the minds of many, long before they were even born?

 

The answer is so very simple - We bring Art Young's Good Morning back to the world because when we look at the pen Art Young raised...

 

-- against capitalism

-- against fascism

-- against child labor

-- against war

-- against big business controlling the government

-- against hypocrisy in elected officials

 

-- for a woman's right to be in-charge of her own life and body

-- for fair wages for a good day's work

-- for racial equality that knew no bounds

-- for respectful care and treatment of veterans

-- for justice (and not only laws) in the courts regardless of wealth or lack thereof

-- for freedom for all people...

 

...we realize, sadly, that we're still dealing with every single one of these issues, all these years later.  So why wouldn't we want, on our side, someone who was there?

 

Maybe, had Good Morning not gone away back in 1922, we wouldn't be here right now.  Maybe all these problems would have been solved, and we'd not be fighting to take back the world from those who feel some divine right of coronation that it is theirs to rule, and that we the people exist to stand by quietly and consume (if our wages ever allow it).

 

Maybe, there will always be people seeking a Good Morning.  Maybe we're just another link in the chain, and there will always be a need for those who come after us.  We're not saying that there is a Good Morning today, most certainly not - but we wish for every single person this most basic of hopefulness which rises at each and every dawn - that today and every day which follows, will be a day which begins with a Good Morning.

 

When we can at least bring this, then the rest of the daylight will naturally follow.
